Why does an artist sculpt or a musician compose? What inspires an architect to design beautiful built environments or compels a chef to cook a delicious meal? These questions have been on my mind since completing a project in Etobicoke last fall.

Falling toward the centre of your longing. Maybe that’s what we’re truly after as we walk this earth. To live from that place. To begin again, and again, and again.

Perhaps we feel drawn to the wilderness—to lakes, forests, and mountains—because, at our core, we understand something deeper than logic alone can explain.

As a result of this experience, I contend that for landscape design to truly resonate, it must do three things.
